Unlike disinfectants coating which provide a limited residual activity once the treated surface dries, built-in Microban antimicrobial technology works to continuously minimize the presence of microbes throughout the entire life-cycle of a curtain.
KEY FACT: Even after disinfection, bacterial numbers rebound by 2 hours!
Microban antimicrobial technology is not a spray-on but built-in to the polymer structure of the non-woven fabric at the point of manufacture. The antimicrobial active components are evenly distributed throughout the whole curtain. Its efficacy covers the entire lifespan of the curtain.
Microban technology has undergone extensive independent laboratory testing and has a long history of safe use. The biocidal active components of Microban are notified with the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and OEKO-TEX listed.

EcoMed disposable hospital curtains treated with Microban technology are tested for their antibacterial and antiviral efficacy in accordance with internationally recognised test standards ISO 20743 and ISO 18184.
ISO 20743: Determination of antibacterial activity of textile products. ISO 20743 specifies quantitative test methods to determine the antibacterial activity of all antibacterial textile products including non-woven fabric.
ISO 18184: Determination of antiviral activity of textile products. ISO 18184 is an antiviral textile test that measures virucidal antimicrobial activity on textiles, non-woven and other porous materials against specific viruses.
Tests for antimicrobial activity have been conducted on EcoMed curtain which was used for three years. The curtain has been proven to still kill up to 99.99% of bacteria.
